Our Goal
Refurnished is a UVA student-led effort that connects donors, recipients and nonprofits to rehouse gently-used furniture throughout Charlottesville.
Our mission works to serve:
Students
Volunteer driven pick-up/drop-off gives students the opportunity to interact with and give back to a community that has given so much to us.
Community
Furniture reallocation to and from community members lessens the impact of both furniture waste and furniture poverty that affects the Charlottesville area.
Environment
Diverting high integrity furniture and home goods from landfills reduces its post-use impact and the embodied energy needed to make more.
Furniture Collection & Delivery
1. Processing & Registration
We accept furniture from a variety of sources, including students, community members, thrift stores, and apartment/office complexes.*
2. Quality & Sanitation
Donations are reviewed by our team, ensuring quality and cleanliness before being listed on our Catalogue.
3. Free Pickup & Delivery
Furniture is picked up from the donor, cleaned and delivered to the recipient in one trip when possible.
4. Storage (As Needed)
When “on-the-fly” moving is not possible, approved donations will be temporarily stored in environmentally-conscious containers.
